I am not a fan of logos or monograms, especially on designer handbags. It’s all a bit too naff and obvious, although I do own some vintage Louis Vuitton and Dior pieces that I inherited from my Mum (vintage pieces are the exception to the rule!)
That being said, I am liking Roger Vivier’s new Miss X collection. Although Roger Vivier (the man and shoe designer) is a legend in his own right, the brand we know today is only 7 years old and was re-launched by Tod’s Group in 2004. Aside from its iconic square buckle, creative director Bruno Frisoni has steered clear from signature prints or monograms (bar the subtle R.V initials on its buckle styles).
The Miss X collection is a fun exception. It features an eye-catching 1960s inspired gemometric design based on their signature buckle. which is then printed on a lacquered canvas that is durable and functional. Geometric prints are all the rage this season and I love the black and white colour palette, accented with a flash of red.
There are a whole range of products available including document holders and passport covers but I am loving the lightweight cabas (which fits my laptop perfectly) and the crossbody clutch for travelling.
Apparently the boutique in Hong Kong is already sold out, but there’s a waiting list. No doubt it will become a classic like the Goyard bags.
Prices range from HK$2,500 to HK$5,000 for small leather goods and between HK$8,000 and HK$11,000 for the tote bags.
Roger Vivier is at The Landmark, Central, tel: 2810 8690.
