LisaT Spa’s multi-colour sarong
Now that holiday season has officially begun I have started to think about my coverup options for the beach. In the past few years editors have been quick to dennounce sarongs as non grata thanks to their popularity with boho backpackers with Bo Derek braids vacationing in Thailand. So while I have followed the pack and stocked up on beautiful kaftans and tunics instead, I do yearn for the days when I could just throw on a good old fashioned sarong. Nothing comes close to its versatility or comfort, even though most of the designs are definitely Not Hot (don’t get me started on the turtle Batik prints…)
So you can imagine my joy when I discovered Lisa T’s new sarong, which is part of her Spa 2011 collection. I have been a fan of LisaT for many years and first fell in love with her beautiful cashmere line inspired by the Golden Age of Couture (I always stock up on her pieces before hitting Paris Fashion Week).
Her Spa line, which she launched in 2009, is ideal for stylish women who love to travel and features gorgeous separates such as jumpsuits, dresses and tunics made from super lightweight, viscose crepe. The fabric is breathable (essential in scorching temperatures) and doesn’t crease, making it great for packing. But of course the beauty is in the design, which brings me back to the sarong…
This gorgeous multi-colour sarong (pictured above) ticks off all the summer’s hottets trends – stripes, colour blocking (with shades of orange, purple, yellow and navy) and prints (in the form of a delicate paisley which reminds me of Etro). Not only is it super glam but it comes with a handy guide on how to wear it with a total of 20 different looks, many of which I have never seen before, from a short draped mini to a long halter dress for the evening. Think of it as this summer’s version of the DKNY Cozy – what’s not to love?
The sarong (HK$2,800) will be available next month but you can pre-order (email: firstname.lastname@example.org) before 30th June to receive a special discount. It will also be available in selected resorts and hotels including the Four Seasons Hotels (Langkawi and Hong Kong); Amanusa in Bali and Chiva Som in Thailand.
You can check out LisaT’s designs at the LisaT Warehouse, Rm 10B, Tak Cheung Building, 22-24 Wing Lok Street, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong, www.lisat-cashmere.com.
