As most of you already know, exotic skin accessories are super hot this season. This however is not an excuse for women to pile it on – there’s a fine line between looking chic and looking like a fashion victim. It’s for this reason that I was drawn to New York based Khirma Eliazov’s clutches, with their luxe look and chic but understated details.
A former editor and stylist, Eliazov debuted her line of handbags in 2009. Her initial claim to fame was her Mignonne drawstring pouch which is a versatile crossbody bag made from leather featuring a strip of stingray. Since then her designs have been spotted on Hollywood “it” girls like Sienna Miller, Jennifer Lopez and Blake Lively.
While her pouch is still a best-seller, I am loving the rest of her collection which focuses on classic shapes accented with exotic skins such as python, chagrin, and lizard. Exotic skin bags run the risk of looking too old, but she has injected her styles with a fun fashion twist that I really like. My favourites include the Lindsay which features strips of python and stingray and the Jolie, a box-shaped clutch with its curvy lines.
Her designs will be available at an exclusive trunk show today (December 14, 2011) with a special 15 per cent discount for one day only. Also on sale is her collection of cool cuffs, card and passport holders. Prices range from HK$850 to HK$10,750.
The Khirma Eliazov Trunk Show is on today (December 14 2011) from 6pm to 10pm at Halo, 10-12 Stanley Street, Central, Hong Kong. www.khirmaeliazov.com
