You may not recognise the name Taylor Tomasi Hill but you will have spotted her on countless of style blogs such as The Sartorialist and Jack and Jil. The former style and accessories director of US Marie Claire is known for her chic yet cool style which  has made her one of the most photographed faces in the industry. Luckily for us, she will be hosting personal appointments at Lane Crawford this week offering customers style tips and advice on the latest spring/summer 2012.

We caught up with Taylor and chatted with her about her must-haves for next season including Prada’s awesome car shoes! Read on to find out more.

What’s on your wish list for SS12?

An asymmetrical white shirt from the Balenciaga runway; Christopher Kane’s jewelled peach mini and an electric glittery metallic brocade skirt; a Jil Sander crisp white poplin tiered dress; Proenza Schouler’s wallpaper print separates; Preen sheer blouses with sweet ruffled cuff details; Celine tailored shirts and cropped wide leg pants; and a few pieces from Kenzo – I loved all the sporty layers and vibrant colours.

For shoes I must get my hands on a pair of the Prada car heels, and Vanities fabric skull bracelets.

Favourite designer?

I could never just wear one designer; I’m a lover of mixing them all. At the moment my favourites are Dries van Noten, McQueen, Proenza, Givenchy for shoes, Balenciaga, Alaia, Phillip Lim, Alexander Wang, Celine, Christopher Kane, Junya Watanabe, Burberry and Comme des Garcons.

Jewellery designer?

Lanvin for costume jewellery, Sara Beltran for rough cut diamonds, Jennifer Fisher for statement gold and brass pieces, Carole Tanenbaum for vintage jewellery and Olivia Collings Estate jewellery.

What are your to-go piece in your wardrobe?

I can’t live without my favourite high top sneakers. They are ideal for travelling and for long days on set.

Three fashion items should every woman own…

A sky high pair of heels that she MUST be able to walk in; a tailored jacket to throw over anything; and jeans that are the perfect fit.

I’m adding a fourth – as many tailored men’s button downs as possible. Throw a pressed one on and go!

A few of Taylor’s favourite things…(left to right): Prada’s shoes, looks from Proenza Schouler and Christopher Kane’s SS12 collections.

Favourite trend for SS12?

Tailored 1950s ladies that aren’t too prissy.

Worst trend for SS12?

Wakadoo hats. I’m all for the Jil Sander veiled hat though, it’s one of my favourites.

Handbag pick for this season?

The Prada car clutch in white with metal closure and the Christopher Kane bejewelled clutch.

Shoe fetish?

Toss up between Balenciaga for the artsy madness, Celine for the minimal lines, Alaia for a f*ck me heel, Rochas when I’m feeling geek chic, and Givenchy for every day booties.

Must-have accessory?

A harness and the Alaia tote I’m saving for.

Most cherished fashion item?

My Polaroids from the Brad and Angelina shoot for W Magazine.

Style icons?

Daphne Guinness – I love that she does her own thing and invests in clothing as art, it’s truly inspiring. For boys, Eugene Tong and Josh Peskowitz.

Minimalist or over the top?

Both.

Most influential fashion designer…

Phoebe Philo is doing incredible things for Celine. There is such an excitement to see what she is going to do next.

Best piece of fashion advice you were ever given…

Dress for the job you want, not the job you have.

Taylor will be available for private styling appointments on Thursday January 12 and Friday January 13 at Lane Crawford, IFC Mall, Central, Hong Kong. For appointments call +852 2118 3388.
