Orlebar Brown’s latest resort wear collection (above)
It’s hard for me to get excited about men’s fashion, let alone swimwear, but everyone has been talking about Orlebar Brown so I decided to see what the fuss was all about, especially since holiday season is coming up.
Launched in 2007, Orlebar Brown features stylish men’s swimwear that combines old school glamour with modern wearability. Comprising of three tailored styles – the Setter (short short), Bulldog (mid length short) and Dane (tailored board short) – the brand quickly gained a cult following with men looking for elegant swimwear that they can take from beach to cocktails. If it’s good enough for Hugh Jackman….
Fans will be pleased to know that the brand has expanded into resort wear this summer. Inspired by the classic Riveria look – and no, we’re not talking Eurotrash – the collection features timeless and chic styles including sharply tailored sweats, pique and towelling polos, chinos and shorts in fun colours such as blue, red and yellow as well as classic black and white. While it’s certainly not high fashion (and thank god – this is men’s resort wear for chrissakes), everything is well made and features cool details fashionable men will love. Look out for the Glenn rope belt, a fun style inspired by a sailor’s role.
