Celine Pre-Fall 2012

Celine, Phoebe Philo, Pre-fall collection

Top picks from Celine include (from left to right): The felt coat, chalk striped flannel suit, grey cashmere dress and cotton taffeta shirt.

Nothing can brighten up my Monday morning quite like Celine. With the summer sales now in full swing, stores are finally receiving their pre-fall lines which in my opinion are better to shop from than the runway collections. Not only are they more wearable but they come at a much better price point. Variety is also key as buyers tend to spend 80 per cent of their seasonable budgets on pre-collections, meaning that you are guaranteed something for everyone.

Which brings me back to Celine. As you are well aware, I am a huge fan of the brand and the pre-fall collection contains many styles that you will wear forever. It’s all about the oversized silhouette although the look is pared down thanks to good tailoring. Highlights include bright coats (love the colbalt blue!) and wide legged trousers, including a black pair with jacquard panels down the side that are super elegant. Other future classics are the buttersoft leather pussy bow shirt, a crisp cotton shirt covered in panels of tafetta (continuing on from spring) and a light grey cashmere dress with rounded shoulders (PS. Droopy shoulders are a key trend for the season, so get it fast!)

Top of my list are the pin stripe suit which is beautifully constructed by traditional men’s wear tailors on Savile Row and the black shift dress with leather pockets. Super chic.

As for the accessories, look out for the classic box bag which comes in grey or a metallic silver, along with a shoulder bag that every woman will love thanks to its practicality and understated elegance. Also making its debut – the Case bag.
