COS hits Hong Kong (above)
My fashion secret is out – I’m a COS addict.
I first discovered COS years ago when I spotted a very chic British editor wearing this incredible blue dress at Paris Fashion Week. When she told me it was from COS I had no clue what she was talking about. Then I discovered their store on Regent Street in London and I was hooked. From then on I have hunted down every COS store in Europe –I don’t think there isn’t one store I haven’t visited!

So when I heard that the brand was opening its first boutique in Hong Kong today (Thursday 28th June at noon, to be exact) I was ecstatic. For those of you who don’t know, COS (aka Collection of Style) is the high-end line of fast fashion group, H&M. Headquartered in London, the look is timeless yet edgy, with a focus on clean, tailored silhouettes and quirky details – think pleats, drapes, that sort of thing (I like to call it, Celine meets Maria Cornejo). While the aesthetic is firmly rooted in Scandinavian cool, it has a funky London twist that I love. The fabrics are good quality, too, which is an added bonus, especially for the pricepoint.
Of course when any brand goes global one always worries about overexposure. I remember when Club Monaco first opened in Hong Kong, I would spot at least two girls wearing the same thing. The best thing about COS is even if you and your best friend do buy the same dress, the minimalist design means that you can easily customise each piece to suit your own look. I myself have worn the same dress or top over the years in new and unexpected ways. For that alone, it is a real winner in my books.

So back to the boutique. The 5,000 square foot space will carry women’s wear, men’s wear and children’s wear, which by the way, gives Bonpoint a run for its money. As for the prices, I am happy to say they are on par with the rest of the world, so there’s no excuse not to go and spend your hard earned cash. New items arrive every week as well so don’t forget to check back frequently.
So my secret is out – but all for good cause.
