Chic slippers (from top left clockwise): Yves Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Prada, Valentino, Chloe and Miu Miu
Most of the time stylish footwear consists of excruciatingly painful stilettos. This season’s hottest trend however combines style with comfort as the slipper – think of it as a cross between a ballerina flat and loafer - makes a comeback at brands like Christian Louboutin, Miu Miu and Loeffler Randall.
While the look is definitely more masculine, designers have added a feminine touch with luxe materials and embellishments including velvet, suede, satin, sequins, glitter and studs. Wear your new shoes with button down shirts and skinny bottoms to keep the look polished and feminine. Or go wild and pair them with autumn’s must-have patterned suits.
Here are my favourite styles this season.
Yves Saint Laurent metallic cap toe loafer: I love the colour combination on these shoes (burgundy is a hot colour for autumn) and the metallic cap toe is a luxe touch.
Alexander McQueen sequined-skull slip-on: These velvet slippers are made more playful thanks to an embellished skull motif.
Prada Cavallino side-logo slipper: Calf hair is always popular in the winter and this leopard print style is a future classic.
Miu Miu glitter slipper with tassels: This style has made it into almost every magazine and is one of my favourites. It’s super glamorous thanks to its glitter and gold combination.
Valentino microstud loafers: This is perfect for women looking for a classic style with a twist. These are formal but the studs add a cool edge.
Chloé fringed patent-leather loafers: Borrowed from the boys, this style is a modern twist on classic loafers. Feminine details make this style a great choice.
