Mansur Gavriel, Handbags, Bucket Bags, Italy, Style, Fashion, Trends, Spring/Summer 2014

Ever since I saw my Mum carrying a Louis Vuitton bucket bag back in the 1980s, I have always loved the shape. Unfortunately the style was dismissed as a 1980s relic until this season where almost every brand has their own version including Saint Laurent, Hermes, and Louis Vuitton (who’s Petite Noe version I am lusting after).

However if you are looking for a classic style that will outlast any season, then you need to check out Mansur Gavriel. I first discovered the brand via instagram, as fashion editors and celebs like Olivia Palermo started posting pics of them wearing their super chic bucket bag.

Founded in 2012, the brand specialises in simple yet elevated leather goods made in Italy. There are no trendy pieces here – just refined silhouettes that highlight the texture and colour of the leather (which is traditional Tuscan vegetable tanned leather). At the moment the current collection includes two styles in various sizes – the bucket bag and tote – which come in neutral shades such as black and camel, plus a few seasonal shades. There’s also a handy pouch for your essentials.  Little touches however add to the luxe factor including a contrasting coloured lining in red or blue.

Next season they are introducing a new leather, which has a more polished finished while the lining will including more colourful hues. The best part? The bags are reasonably priced and won’t break the bank.

Apparently we are onto a good thing as the bag seems to be selling out both online and in stores. So if you can get your hands on one, consider yourself lucky!
