Inside the men’s store on On Lan Street
Those of you who frequent IFC Mall would have noticed the mahjong hoarding that covered J.Crew’s highly anticipated first boutique in Hong Kong. Fans no longer have to wait, as it officially opened its doors last week along with another store on On Lan Street in Central (which has started to become a “cool” spot once again).
Interestingly both stores will showcase completely different merchandise to Lane Crawford (which still carries a selection of the brand) with one dedicated to women and the other to men.
The women’s store
The store at IFC Mall measures a whopping 3,250 square feet and is mostly dedicated to the retailer’s higher-priced women’s Collection line which showcases twice a year at New York Fashion Week. There’s also a denim room with more casual pieces and their collaboration with Point Sur denim. One thing I love about J Crew are their unique collaborations with other brands and this is well represented in the store with jewellery by Lulu Frost, RMS beauty and Sachajuan hair products. But my favourite by far is their collection designed by British cobbler Sophia Webster which is chic yet fun.

Over at On Lan Sreet is The Men’s Shop, which covers three floors of prime real estate. Each floor offers a different men’s “experience:” The ground floor has a good variety of men’s suiting and denim, the first floor carries the retailer’s “In Good Company” collaboration items, while the top floor is devoted to their popular Ludlow Shop which features suiting and shirting. Shoe lovers also have plenty to buy including limited edition pieces from Vans, New Balance and Alfred Sargent, all hand-edited for the Hong Kong customer.
Both stores will also offer a VIP programme with special services such as home or office delivery, monogramming, alterations and complimentary one-on-one style appointments with their in-house stylists.
