New year, new clothes! And what better place to spend all your hard-earned laisee than at the newly opened Sacai boutique on On Lan Street in Hong Kong? The Tokyo based label has been a favourite of mine for many years thanks to its cool hybrid styles and fresh silhouettes (and I am in good company – everyone from Karl Lagerfeld to Suzy Menkes can’t stop talking about designer Chitose Abe).
The new store, which is the brand’s first in Asia outside of Japan, does not look like your typical designer boutique. The exterior and interior integrate seamlessly thanks to a unique “box-in-box” design and lofty ceilings create an industrial look. Inside there is plenty of modern Japanese art although lets be honest, it’s the clothes you are really there for.
In addition to the spring/summer 2015 military inspired collection, there’s also a limited edition capsule line made exclusively for Hong Kong featuring all those Sacai signatures – but with a new twist. Look for laid back yet funky parachute style tops, peplum belts, skirts and even a jumpsuit, made from eyelet, lace and other technical fabrics.
Also coming soon is their first collaboration with Nike (watch this space!)
