British designer Jonathan Anderson has been on a roll ever since he took the reins at Spanish brand Loewe in 2013. After a super cool rebranding including a new streamlined logo, store design and advertising campaign, the brand has just unveiled its latest artistic collaboration with master weaver and knitter John Allen. It’s Anderson’s first artistic collaboration since he joined Loewe although he previously worked with Allen for his own label, J.W Anderson.

Allen is actually known for his carpets, which feature abstract scenes of the British landscape in vivid colours. It may seem odd that a luxury house would collaborate with a master weaver at first but when you think that one of the fundamentals of Loewe is in fact its textiles, namely its buttery soft napa leather, it all ties together well.

The collection, which launches today, is perfect for the summer and includes vibrant beach bags, towels, wallets, keyrings, pouches and the must-have espadrille decorated with prints or colours taken from Allen’s works including his Falling Leaves, Cornish Harbour and Pink House in Cumbria creations. The prints have an artsy vibe but paired together with Loewe’s signature shapes and luxe materials makes for a modern and covetable collection.

Highlights include any of the printed beach bags and of course the espadrilles which will no doubt fly off shelves. The oversized towels are so chic you may want to show them off at home rather than on a sandy beach. The Cornish Harbour print is one of my favourites with its vibrant shades of blue.

To coincide with the launch, Loewe is also releasing a special publication featuring stunning images shot at Allen’s residence in London by up and coming photographer Jamie Hakwesworth, alongside an in-depth interview with the artist. There are only 1,200 copies available at Loewe stores worldwide.
