Livia Arena’s AW15 collection
Australia has always had a great track record when it comes to fashion designers – in just the past few years the country has given us cool brands like Camilla & Marc and Sass & Bide. If you are looking to discover the next generation of talents then check out the Common Threads Project pop-up showroom in Hong Kong, which opens today and tomorrow (August 25 to August 26).
Knitwear from MM Sohn
There are around 10 brands on display covering everything from women’s evening and contemporary wear to jewellery and footwear. There’s also loungewear – think easy jersey pieces – by designer Katie Perry. While many of the brands have yet to reach Ellery status, there are a few worth checking out.
Melbourne based Livia Arena has a fresh street style aesthetic that brings to mind old school Alexander Wang with plenty of slouchy trousers, skirts and jackets with industrial hardware and innovative textures. MM Sohn has some cool draped knits with raw finishings for an edgy look. Morgan Marks from Perth is known for her layered looks that have a more avant garde vibe.
The Common Projects Showroom is on from 10am to 6pm, August 25-26, 2015 at the Anita Chan Gallery, The Fringe Club, 2 Upper Albert Road, Central, Hong Kong.
