These days most big fashion houses are looking for new design talent to spice up their offerings (case in point Alessandro Michele at Gucci). One of our favourite pairings this season comes courtesy of Ferragamo which recently enlisted the talents of shoewear designer Edgardo Osorio of Aquazzura to launch a capsule collection in time for the holidays.
The partnership makes sense on many levels – Edgardo is based in Florence where Ferragamo is headquartered and both have made their names in the shoewear industry creating high quality footwear that feels as good as it looks.
The capsule collection therefore hits all the right style notes. There are a total of 12 styles, many of them inspired by Salvatore Ferragamo’s designs from the from the 1930s to 1950s which have been given a modern twist through Osorio’s lens.
Cult favourites like the rainbow wedge is reenvisaged in a sexy mesh bootie sandal featuring rainbow coloured leather strips. Ferragamo’s iconic polka dot print comes in all colours of the rainbow on Aquazzura’s signature lace up flat or in black and white on a simple blook heel sandal. Our favourite is a pair of sexy evening sandals with wings made from feathers.
