Who else hates getting dressed for a rainy day? All sense of style tends to fly out the window, especially when it comes to accessories (Hong Kong is the only place we’ve seen a Chanel bag wrapped in waterproof plastic on a rainy day!)
Fortunately there is now another option for those wet days courtesy of local label VICIOUSVENOM. The brand just launched its new Elements Collection on Kickstarter earlier this month which founder Kelly Chan bills as a unisex collection of “waterproof bags with a sleek urban outlook.”
If rugged sport styles come to mind then think again. The Elements collection is a complete departure from your usual male-centric utilitarian dry bags and instead offers some seriously chic rain gear. There are four essential styles to choose from, available in two colour ways including black and white. There’s nothing chunky in sight – even the backpack is sleek thanks to a removable padded lining. Our favourites include the clutch with detachable shoulder strap while the dry duffel is the perfect bag for travel or the gym.
Naturally the bags are 100 per cent waterproof (as opposed to water repellent or resistant) thanks to details like ultrasonic welded seams to ensure no leakage and waterproof zippers. And before you ask, unfortunately the bags are made with Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) laminated 840D Polyester, which although not completely environmentally friendly is better than PVC (it’s also practically odourless which is a plus). Kelly there are plans to look into eco-friendly biodegradable TPU in the future. Watch this space!
