It may seem odd writing about swimwear when summer is almost technically over, but living in a tropical climate means that you can enjoy the warm weather for the most part of the year. As such we thought it would be fun to introduce you to two new tried-and-tested swimwear brands that look as stylish as they feel.
Everyone knows Grana as the place to go to for well-priced, high quality basics such as Tees and denim. This summer they added swimwear to their portfolio. Like their other categories, the aesthetic is timeless, and features six mix and match styles for women – three tops, two bottoms and one swimsuit – while the men’s consists of four basic shapes. The women’s styles are made from a trademark fabric sourced in Italy called Eurojersey (it doesn’t pill, fade and dries quickly), and silhouettes range from bandeaus to racer backs. What really stands out is the attention to detail – everything feels comfortable but offers plenty of support. We are loving the limited edition colours including a colourblock red and burgundy.
This summer everyone has been talking about Triangl, which lo and behold is actually based in Hong Kong. This online-only brand was founded by an Aussie couple who moved to the city in 2012. Recognising a gap in the market for affordable swimwear they built a cool and covetable collection based entirely on one silhouette – you guessed it – the triangle bikini. Today all the styles (which include other silhouettes like strapless and balconette) are made from neoprene which is both comfortable and functional. It’s the design, though, that we love. The look is bold and bright, fun and fashionable, often with mix and match styles that are plain on the top, and printed on the bottom. Current styles include tie dye, floral prints and hand stitched details for a “couture” look.
