The easiest way to update your wardrobe this fall is by investing in a chic hat, as dictated by countless of brands from Gucci to Chanel. You can also get your hat fix at the newly launched Maison Michel pop-up store which is now open at On Pedder’s Central boutique.
Maison Michel is considered to one of the world’s leading milliners, so much so that it was acquired by luxury brand Chanel in 1990s. Since its inception in the 1930s the Paris-based maison has created signature hats for the haute couture and pret-a-porter collections of fashion houses such as Givenchy, Nina Ricci, Lanvin and Laroche, and as such is synonymous with quality and style.
Last year the brand hired artistic director and Central Saint Martin’s graduate Priscilla Royer to oversee their image and collections. Since then the collections have been punctuated with a high fashion attitude that’s cool yet luxurious.
Take for example the brand’s latest collection which is inspired by punk-era England and marks the house’s 10th anniversary. Royer has subverted codes and broken rules with styles such as trilby hat covered in graffiti or held together by zippers. Caps are covered in pins and chains for an industrial look.
For the On Pedder pop-up, Royer has designed two exclusive styles, the Virginie hat with metal zippers in two shades – pearl grey and English pink.
