What women doesn’t love diamonds? Recently we’ve discovered three new designers that are making headlines with their modern and innovative jewels, ranging from personalised diamond encrusted necklaces to earrings made up of clusters of uncut diamonds. Without further adieu, introducing the jewellers of the future.
Messika: Moving Diamonds
Messika isn’t actually a new brand – it was founded in 2005 by Valérie Messika, who hails from a family of diamond dealers. Messika’s designs immediately stand out because of their technical innovation and modern yet minimal aesthetic. For example many of the collections are movable and flexible so they adapt to the female form. As such their best-selling collection is still the Move (apparently a Move piece is sold every 30 minutes) which consists of series of bangles and rings that feature three movable diamonds.

Thea: Luxe Personalisation
Luxury is all about customisation these days which is why we love Thea. The line was founded in 2011 by Belgian designer and former fashion editor, Emilie Duchêne who previously worked at fashion labels such as Isabel Marrant, Dior Joaillerie and Christian Dior. Timeless, versatile and elegant, Thea is known for its handmade jewellery made from 18K gold or gold plated silver, featuring words in Duchene’s handwriting. All the pieces can be customised down to the colour and type of stones. It’s been so popular that celebrities such as Beyonce, Rihanna, Kate Moss and Jessica Alba all own a personalised piece. No doubt they would also love her latest design, a gemmed ear cuff which can be customised with up to three letters.

Suzanne Kalan: Innovative Settings
Suzanne Kalan hails from Los Angeles and is know for her innovative collections which feature diamonds and colourful gemstones set haphazardly for a modern look. Take for example her Fireworks collection which features scattered baguette diamonds arranged in chaotic patterns to form a series of bangles, rings, earrings and necklaces (she uses a specially developed technique so the gemstones sit perfectly). Our favourite are the thin diamond bangles which can be layered together for an edgy look.
