Remember Scarlett Johansson’s ear party at the Oscars this year? All her piercings and earrings were created by no other than New York based Maria Tash, aka piercer to the stars (and fortunately for us, regular folk too).
Maria’s love for piercing started in the late 1980s when she was living in London. She eventually made it a career in the early 1990s. Since then she has pierced the likes of Beyonce and Gwyneth Paltrow, while setting up her own store in New York, followed by a concession in Liberty of London last year.
Maria has a way of making multiple piercings look chic and stylish as opposed to punky. As such she and her brand have been embraced by more fashionable circles looking to make a statement with their ear candy.
Asides from the piercings, she also has a covetable collection of dainty jewels made from 18K gold and diamonds that can cover various parts of the ear from the earlobe and helix (upper ear lobe) to the tragus (the area just before the inner ear passage).
Many of the designs are inspired by Indian and Pakistani designs so expect tribal-inspired hoops covered in pearls or decorated with lashings of gold chains. On the other end of the spectrum are edgy hoops decorated with spikes and diamond encrusted tallons. Our favourites are the simple yet bold diamond styles including the thunderbolt, stars and diamond charms which can be added to any of her hoop styles.
The Maria Tash team is at Lane Crawford IFC Mall until April 11 and Lane Crawford Canton Road from April 12 to 17, 2017. For appointments call +852 2118 2288 or visit www.lanecrawford.com
