Racil Spring/Summer 2017
There are some items in your wardrobe that you can never have too many of. The tuxedo jacket is one of them. Popularised by Yves Saint Laurent in the 1960s, a well-cut tuxedo jacket can transform any outfit thanks to its versatility (its sleek lines are also super slimming!) Over the years many designers have created their own permutations but our new favourite is London based brand Racil, which already boasts fans including style icons Caroline Issa and Leandra Medine.
The brand was founded in 2015 by Lebanese designer Racil Chalhoub when she couldn’t find a tuxedo jacket she wanted to wear. She started with a capsule collection of 20 pieces, all in black. Since then the line has grown – every season she playfully re-invents the tuxedo with new colours or silhouettes while updating details such as the lapel, lining and buttons. Every jacket can work with almost anything in your wardrobe from a little black dress to a pair of jeans, Tee and white trainers (which is our favourite way to wear our Racil jacket!).
Her current collection is inspired by rock legends and their wives so expect lots of old school glamour mixed with a rock ‘n’ roll vibe. Aside from the Bowie Blue J suit and Angie jacket in white satin, we love that she’s branched out to include the 1970s inspired Bianca dress and dressing gown in yellow velvet (who needs a kimono?). Also top of our must-have list – the black Bowie jacket decorated with shooting stars and lightening bolt appliques.
