The summer holidays have started and we’re excited to head on vacation. During our wardrobe research, we uncovered three new accessory brands that are perfect for the beach or poolside this summer (and two of them are based in Hong Kong!). Read on to find out more!
Move over Borsalino! Bella Blu, founded by Hong Kong based Jo Dixon, offers a range of men’s and women’s hats that are handmade in Ecuador. There is plenty of workmanship that goes into each piece – it takes between one and six weeks to create each style using traditional weaving techniques – which means there is no compromise on quality. The designs tend to be on the more conservative/classic side s but Dixon has updated them with fashionable touches be it an unusual colour (like yellow) or details such as leather braid trims. For those looking to carry their hats in style, Bella Blu also offers a chic carry-on hat case which can fit up to three hats.
Basket bags are a hot trend this summer but out favourite style by far is the futuristic creation of Los Angeles based, Cult Gaia. Way cooler than your average wicker tote, the brand’s coveted Ark bag has made the rounds on social media thanks to its super cool structure and vintage look. The crescent shaped bag is also made from sustainable bamboo giving it an au natural vibe, although there are also more fashion-forward versions available in colourful acrylic.
Velvet flip flops may sound a bit gimmicky, but once you’ve tried on these super soft sandals you will be converted. Hong Kong based Pagoda has luxed up the humble flip flop with a covering of rich velvet in gorgeous shades ranging from sky blue to rich burgundy. The fabric is surprisingly durable for the beach and the sandals have rubber bottoms so they aren’t too flimsy. They are guaranteed to add a luxe touch to your outfit once the sun goes down.
