I met designer Bridget King a few years ago when she launched her costume jewellery line Brigetta, and have been her loyal fan ever since. Her designs are timeless and easy-to-wear but above all still look modern and on trend. I also love the fact that many of them are multi-functional and can be worn in several different ways – great for someone like me who is always on the go!
Last year she started to incorporate fine jewellery pieces into her line and recently launched a full-fledged collection in time for Mother’s Day. Again the styles are modern classics but have a fashion edge that I love. She’s also taken pieces from her regular collection such as the triple teardrop earrings and reinterpreted them in a luxe version made from yellow, rose, black or white gold with diamonds. The concept is still the same – the earrings feature three different sized teardrops (small, medium and large) that are detatchable allowing them to be worn in various combinations. You can even flip the hoops and wear them plain (sans diamonds). If you don’t want to buy a set of three, you can get individual sizes as well.
If you are looking for something more fashion forward, she has a few pieces featuring champagne coloured diamonds set in oxidised silver for a cool look. The diamonds are rose cut and paved irregularly so that each piece looks more interesting. I treated myself to the diamond disc pendant although I really have my eye on the show-stopping thumbprint earrings with its gravel-like texture.
If diamonds aren’t your thing, don’t fret. Since rose gold is the must-have jewellery shade right now, she has designed a line of nature-inspired rose gold-plated earrings and necklaces featuring organic shapes and cut outs. The earrings are also reversible – one side is made from brushed gold while the other is left shiny. What more could a girl want?
