Tom Ford women lands in Hong Kong

Ever since the star studded fashion presentation in New York last September, women around the world have been waiting for Tom Ford’s women’s wear to launch in stores. Well brace yourself because the women’s store finally opened its doors in Hong Kong this weekend, after a successful opening in Seoul.

Kitted out in a similiar decor to the men’s store – both areas are interconnected although they have two separate entrances – the women’s store has a softer look with grey carpets, sueded wallcoverings, cool lighting and fresh flowers (all white, naturally).

At the back you’ll find evening wear, while the front of the store features day wear. As spring/summer is the designer’s first collection, offerings are limited but are set to double in the autumn (Ford will also sell wholesale starting next season).

All the clothes have Ford’s signature glam touch – chic mermaid skirts come with a naughty fishnet trim at the hem, leather skirts are punctuated with visible stitching while a button up shirt is made from sheer white chiffon with contrasting black tie cuffs. Beyonce’s python print sequin dress and a mother of pearl sequinned short jacket are some of the more couture like pieces. It’s also worth checking out his amazing tuxedo jackets for women, which are constructed by hand at the same factory as the men’s wear. It’s set to become a classic like YSL’s Le Smoking.

To complement the clothes are a complete range of bags, shoes and jewellery, the latter of which features incredible hammered gold earrings and cuffs.

Asia CEO Mark Prendergrast was also on hand to let us know that Ford will be making a personal appearance in Hong Kong on May 21. He will also be opening a women’s store in Beijing. Watch this space!
