There is no colour more crisp and chic that white, especially in the summer. While some women shy away from it, it suits most skin tones and can flatter all shapes as long as you choose the right style or cut.
If there is one white piece you should own this season, it has to be a white jacket. It appeared in all permutations on the catwalk, from space age styles at Alexander Wang to a classic trench at Yves Saint Laurent. Safari style jackets and wrap around styles were also popular, as were white trouser suits as seen at Tom Ford.
So what should you wear with your white jacket? A tailored white blazer will look great thrown on top of a bright dress, or to offset a colour block outfit. Try to avoid pairing it with blue jeans – it looks too 1990s Calvin Klein.
I am not a fan of short sleeved jackets but the one from Akris looks great thanks to the length and structured collar. Throw it over a pair of shorts, and you are good to go.
Also look for white jackets with interesting detail – Chanel’s white tweed style was embellished with feathers, to create texture. Some styles were made from different panels of fabric too. Draping and origami details can also add an edgy vibe to your outfit.
