A few months ago I wrote a story about Singaporean brands that are taking the fashion world by storm. A recent visit to the country confirmed it – the Singaporeans are hot!
One of my favourites has always been Alldressedup, which is available at boutiques such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman and Harvey Nichols here in Hong Kong. It was founded by my friend and Singaporean style icon Tina Tan Leo who launched the brand back in 2005. Tina is fashion royalty in Asia – she’s owner of luxury department store The Link and like Joyce Ma in Hong Kong, she brought the best of European fashion to Singapore over 30 years ago.
She conceived Alldressedup as an aspirational line to fill in the gap between high street and luxury labels. It combines elements of East and West so expect easy-to-wear silhouettes with intricate, sometimes ethnic inspired details that remind me of Italian brand Marni. It has an urban cool and ease that I love, making it appeal to women of all backgrounds. Tina is also a keen supporter of local designers – each season she brings on a Singaporean designer to design their accessories while her design team is a mix of Asian and international talents.
Their spring/summer collection is very much in synch with my own personal style and features classic looks reinvented with a feminine twist. Colour-blocking is revisited in cool new combinations such as yellow and grey which appears on a draped silk top and dress. ,The dresses are fabulous from the draped wrap dress and a one-shoulder toga-style in burnt orange. to a khaki linen dress with a scultptural zip collar.
