The new store in Hong Kong (above)
I remember discovering Phillip Lim years ago when I wrote a story about the rise of Asian-American designers in New York. Since then I have been a big fan of his luxe yet casual style. There’s something incredibly appealing in his loose silhouettes, luxe materials and fashionable accents that make his pieces super easy to wear. His spring/summer 12 collection is no exception and is one of my favourites this season.
Since his visit to Beijing two years ago, Lim has turned his attention to Asia, with stores in Singapore and Seoul. Hong Kong has recently been added to the list, with its first freestanding boutique that opened two weeks ago.
Inside you will find his Resort collection, which features laid back silhouettes with utility elements that add a modern, urban touch. The fabrics are also fun – pony hair is used on a biker silk romper that appears to be made from denim and on a tank to create the illusion of a print. The separates make great wardrobe staples and range from a two-tone slouchy tie waist cardigan and draped sleeveless shirt to wrapped waist cotton skirts.

Also be sure to check out his line of bags which are functional, chic and reasonably priced. His latest is called the 31 hour bag, which is designed for women who live super active lifestyles (where 24 hours is evidently not enough!). Each style can be worn several ways and come in a range of cool colours including hot coral.
