Shoespace at Queensway (above)
One thing I love about the booming Asian economy is the fact that Hong Kong has no shortage of cool new spaces to check out. The latest to launch is Shoespace, a new accessories concept that appeals to the young, fashion-forward fashionista who likes to mix and match her YSL shoes with her Acne jeans.
The brainchild of accessories specialist On Pedder, the first Shoespace recently opened in the new LAB boutique in Queensway, with plans to roll out more stores in the future (Central is up next!). Unlike your usual fashion store, Shoespace’s look will change completely each season thanks to the open plan space and flexible furnishings which allows the merchandisers (and collaborating artists) to get as creative as possible. At the moment, the theme is “Travel the World,” so expect cool vintage suitcases, an airplane and dedicated spaces to fashion capitals around the world.
As for the merchandise, the emphasis is on fashion-forward yet accessible labels so expect brands such as Tory Burch, Stuart Weitzman, McQ, Repetto, Phillip Lim and Alexander Wang. There are also a series of cool new exclusives to the store for the spring/summer season including must-have brands such as the Cambridge Satchel Company (who has designed an exclusive white and neon pink satchel) as well as Ancient Greek Sandals which editors are buzzing about . Everything is merchandised with a younger customer in mind, so expect trend-focused styles along with plenty of trainers, androgynous brogues and the such.
For those of you who like your luxury designer fix, don’t fret. The store also has an edited selection of brands such as Yves Saint Laurent, Chloe, Givenchy, Proenza Schouler, Stella McCartney, Pierre Hardy and more to keep your shoe wardrobes up to date.
In the next few months also look out for the launch of brands such as 1980s favourite Superga, Madonna’s label Truth or Dare and Toga Pulla.
Shoespace’s must-haves include (from left clockwise): bags from The Cambridge Satchel Company, 3.1 Phillip Lim sandals and Acne booties (above)
Shoespace is at Queensway Plaza, 93 Queensway, Admiralty, Hong Kong.
