The high fashion world is so caught up with women’s wear that we forget how big the men’s wear market is, especially in Asia. Apparently Givenchy agrees as it recently opened its first men’s pop-up shop in Hong Kong.
Men’s only shopping areas are nothing new in this city (The Landmark’s basement is entirely dedicated to men’s wear), but this is the first time Givenchy has opened a dedicated men’s space in the region.
Located inside IFC Mall, the store is housed in a freestanding black box which is modelled on the iconic boxes the brand uses to deliver its Haute Couture garments. Inside the 320 square foot space men can browse the Spring 2014 pre-collection including accessories and ready to wear.
The timing seems ideal as the men’s collections have been generating a lot of buzz recently. This season is all about a Latin influence so expect a bold look consisting of contrasting prints like stripes, tartan camouflage and florals combined on sporty silhouettes. I am sure the Tees printed with Favelas 74 will sell out! There is also plenty of modern tailoring injected with Riccardo Tisci’s signature urban style. The accessories are equally covetable with a complete line of bags including the LC, a large travel duffle and the Marine backpack.
The Givenchy men’s store is open for three months and is at Podium Level Two, IFC Mall, 8 Finance Street, Central, Hong Kong. www.givenchy.com
