Some of men’s wear’s greatest moments have happened on film (hello James Bond) so it came as no surprise when online retailer Mr Porter announced they would be collaborating with acclaimed British film director Matthew Vaughn (of Snatch and X-Men fame) on a new brand inspired by his latest blockbuster, Kingsman: The Secret Service. Hollywood costume designer Ariane Phillips also lent her talents to the collection, which is worn throughout the film by actors including Colin Firth, Samuel L Jackson and Michael Caine.
The 60 piece collection, which is available online from today (January 13 2015) can best be described as an ode the modern gentleman – think pinstripes, velvet jackets and three piece suits – updated with slim silhouettes and uber luxe fabrics. As such Mr Porter also enlisted some of the best names in British fashion to create the products including Bremont (timepieces), Cutler & Gross (eyewear), Drakes (ties and pocket squares), footwear (George Cleverley), Mackintosh (outerwear) and Turnbull & Asser (shirting).
As you can imagine there is something for every occasion whether it’s a day out in the country (we love the waxed cotton field jacket with leather trims), night out (channel Tom Ford in the Blue Velvet smoking jacket) or night in (in the Moire dressing gown). And while Savile Row tailoring is definitely a highlight so are the accessories including leather briefcases , wood handled umbrellas, lace up boots and tortoiseshell glasses.
