Top shows by (from left to right): Erdem, Christopher Kane, Simone Rocha and Alexander McQueen
Here’s everything you need to know about London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2016/17
Our favourite shows…
Erdem referenced the darker side of old Hollywood glamour circa 1920s to 1940s with vintage trouser suits and Edwardian style bias cut dresses and gowns.
Alexander McQueen offered some of the most beautiful tailored jackets and dresses tinged with a touch of surrealism in the form of clock and butterfly prints. The rest was pure fantasy with elaborately beaded capes and sheer gowns gilded with unicorns and dreamscapes.
Christopher Kane – for sheer variety alone. There were logo sweatshirts (decorated with a Gothic K), beautifully tailored jackets trimmed in colourful feathers and floral prints on edgy draped cocktail dresses.
Simone Rocha went for dark twisted romance with a collection that was strict (think Victorian inspired silhouettes) yet romantic with layers of gauze, tulle and organza and colours such as pink.
(From left to right): JW Anderson, Mary Katrantzou, Preen and Burberry
Victoriana with a dark twist
Sequins, lots of them!
Collars are the new detail, and come in all shapes, sizes and colours. Don’ bow.
XL sleeves make for a dramatic silhouette (the cold shoulder is also still kicking about).
Fur, preferably sheepskin.
Dishevelled glamour – think Grey Gardens.
