Looking Back on 2018

After so many years in the industry I feel it’s vital to give back to the next generation.  I was honoured to host a conversation with one of fashion’s most powerful female visionaries, Tory Burch, at SCAD Hong Kong in March. She shared her insight into building her billion-dollar empire followed by a mentoring session with a select group of students.

Behind-the-scenes I continued to work as a mentor and assessor for the Fashion Incubation Programme, run by the Hong Kong Design Centre. The initiative is especially meaningful as it provides a platform to recognise and nurture Hong Kong’s upcoming talents.

I am always on the lookout for projects that are challenging or unique, and I was handed a gem in the form of a book project with Rosewood Hotels and publishers Assouline. I had the honour of working as a contributing editor on Hong Kong: Heritage, Art and Dreams a stunning coffee table tome which features people from all walks of life that form the backbone of the city I call home.

It was back to business of fashion at the Luxury Symposium, hosted by the French Chamber of Commerce in November. I hosted the day-long event which addressed the newly forged Greater Bay Area and its effects on the luxury industry in Hong Kong and beyond.

The year rounded off with Fashion Asia Hong Kong 2018, which I was involved in both as a consultant as well as presenter and moderator. One of the major highlights was chatting with LVMH group president of Greater China Andrew Wu who delved into the mindset of the next generation of Chinese customers.
